Not at all. While many of our customers are based in Southern California and visit our Hawthorne facility regularly, we work with companies across the United States. Engineering collaboration happens over video calls and shared file reviews, and we ship finished products via UPS, FedEx, or freight carriers depending on the size and urgency of the order. That said, being located minutes from LAX makes it easy for out-of-state customers to visit when they want hands-on involvement in design reviews or first-article inspections.
Can I visit the manufacturing facility before starting a project? +
Absolutely, and we encourage it. A facility tour gives you a firsthand look at our SMT lines, mechanical fabrication shop, wire harness stations, test area, and quality inspection processes. How does Calpak handle shipping for finished assemblies? +
We maintain accounts with UPS, FedEx, and several freight carriers. Small production runs and prototypes typically ship via ground or air depending on your timeline. Larger box-build and system-level assemblies go out on pallets via LTL freight. We also accommodate customer-provided shipping accounts and can ship internationally when required. All shipments are packaged to ESD and MIL-STD handling requirements as applicable to the product.
